Sears Portrait Studio

I was hired as a photographer at Sears Portrait Studio back in 2014. This job was my absolute favourite as I got to work with families, couples, newborns, students etc. I had the opportunity of being very creative with my work. I enjoyed my job very much and had plans of opening my own studio in the near future. Unfortunately, in 2017 Sears Portrait Studio had shut down and I was no longer able to work there. Many of my clients encouraged me to open up my own studio sooner than I had expected however, I was still a student and wanted to focus on graduating with my BBA degree first. Fast forward to now and I am almost done my first year of the BEd program. I still have plans to open up my own photography studio as a side job as I have a strong passion for photography and working with young children.

Travel: India 2002- 2018

I have had the opportunity of travelling to India several times. My first trip was in grade 2 and my most recent trip was in 2018. I am fortunate to have travelled to India with my family almost every other year. I have learned a lot about my culture, family history, and the differences present when comparing India to other countries. These trips have always been a culture shock to my family and I. The way of life is different, school settings and expectations are different, children’s upbringings are different, along with many other things. At a very young age I learned how privileged I am in a variety of ways. I had the opportunity to attend after school tutoring sessions with my cousins that live in India. Looking back and realizing that I was extremely interested in their learning process and environment is something that I believe has shaped me into choosing education as a career path

Highstreet Guest Services (Santa Hut)

Another job that I absolutely loved was my seasonal position at the Highstreet Shopping Centre. I worked in the Santa hut during the Christmas season and this is where young families, children, couples, friends etc. would come in to get their Santa photos taken for that holiday season. This job was so rewarding because of the joy and happiness I got to witness during each and every shift I had. For some it was their first Christmas, first Santa photo, first family photo and so on. I got to witness many firsts which was something I enjoyed. This work experience made me realize how much I truly enjoy working with young children and families.
